Legal Assistant – Family, Employment & General Civil Litigation

We are looking for an enthusiastic intermediate level legal admin assistant to work in our growing litigation department.

Practice area responsibility will primarily include family, employment and general civil litigation.

You must be highly organized, willing to learn, have an eye for detail and have strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* General responsibility for managing litigation files, including preparation of court pleadings and other documents, in both Provincial and Supreme Court
* Preparing court documents and family law agreements (separation agreements etc.)
* Filing documents in Court Registries
* Opening files in our practice and document management systems and handling associated file organization and administrative tasks
* Written and telephone communications with clients, opposing counsel and self-represented litigants
* Assist with preparation of correspondence, faxes, documents, etc. using Digital Dictaphone transcription, email instructions, copy typing and handwritten notes
* Book mediations, discoveries, judicial case conferences, trials, client appointments etc.
* Conduct relevant searches and due-diligence enquiries
* Maintain BF and Precedent systems
* Monitors calendars and diarizes deadlines
* Assist Lawyers with billing matters
* Performing other miscellaneous office administration and file-related tasks as required


* Has worked with or has knowledge of PC Law
* Graduation from accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program
* Experience with Court Services Online and online registrations/searches
* Proactive work style
* Ability to work independently and work collaboratively as part of a team
* Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
* Solid organizational skills
* Ability to multi-task and work under time pressure
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent English, oral and written

Litigation Associate – Family Law

Are you tired of chasing billable hour targets? Are you seeking control over your work/life balance? Do you feel stuck in your career but just don’t know what to do? We have been there and can report that there is another way.

We have an opportunity available for a family law associate or experienced senior practitioner who is interested in working regular hours in a law firm with a warm, supportive, and collegial environment.

You will have the opportunity to work with and be mentored by our current senior lawyers and will be responsible for the full conduct of your own matters.  The firm has an established business pipeline and can provide a steady stream of referrals.

You will have a minimum of three years of family law practice, a preference for technology adoption and possess a high degree of emotional intelligence. You will be experienced with resolving matters in both the Supreme and Provincial Court systems, utilizing all available ADR avenues when appropriate.
