Ian W. Burroughs is a Partner of the Firm. Ian’s practice consists of three main areas, the first being his Corporate and Commercial Business Practice. Ian has extensive experience in assisting local and family owned enterprises with the running of their businesses, including the negotiation of commercial agreements, leases, the sale and purchases of businesses, shareholder agreements and succession planning.

In much the same way as Ian helps his business clients operate smoothly, Ian also works with individuals and families to organize their personal affairs. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience with estate planning and wealth preservation including, wills, representation agreements, family trusts, including alter ego and joint partner trusts.

Real estate transactions, both commercial and residential are Ian’s third main focus. He represents both corporate and individual clients in the purchase, sale or financing of British Columbia real estate.

Ian is attentive and compassionate and is rewarded by the long term loyalty of his clientele. The majority of his clients are small or family owned businesses or individuals that return to him for continuing advice. This loyalty has developed because Ian believes that each client is its own special relationship and he strives to listen to and give each client his focused personal attention.

Ian joined Kerfoot Burroughs & Co. as a Partner in November 2011. Prior to that, Ian practiced law in Richmond for 18 years as a sole practitioner where he learned the intimate details of the running of a business.
